A sunny Sunday in Arlington, WA

The Boyfriend and I took a road trip to Arlington, about 46 miles north of Ballard (Seattle). It was a lovely drive of about an hour on a chilly, sunny Sunday. We meandered mostly around N. Olympic Ave. It had a very small town, bedroom community feel to it, although there’s more to Arlington than that little area.

I laughed when I saw the graphic for one of the hair salons, that is such a 1980s look.

Shire Cafe in Arlington, WA

Posted by in 17 Feb, 2008

The Boyfriend (TB) and I took a road trip to Arlington, about an hour’s drive north of Ballard (Seattle). Thank dog for the Internet – TB did a Google search for vegetarian restaurants in the area and found the Shire Cafe at 117 E. Division St. in Arlington (phone 360-403-9020). The Shire’s menu is 100% vegetarian with many vegan options.

TB had a delicious “meatball” sandwich and a small salad, I had the hummus appetizer with toasted pita bread plus a side of french fries, for drinks we both had plain old water. Total cost, including tip, just under $20.

Yes, The Boyfriend’s kitties have their own blog now, Alpha and Beta’s Stinky CatBox.

I contribute occasionally — I wrote the CSI post and the fiber post (so far).

Would you care for a spot of tea?

829?!

Posted by in 3 Feb, 2008

I found out about this via Fark (link goes here): A woman named Ruth Houston wrote a book called Is He Cheating on You? 829 Telltale Signs.

829?! I’m guessing that “breathing” and “being awake” are in her top two. Oh, and as you can tell from the book title, women don’t cheat.

It gets better: Houston’s Web site (infidelityadvice.com), with a graphic of her book prominently displayed, advises visitors to “check back often because new information is added regularly.”

I find the idea of “829 telltale signs” of cheating and the additional “new information added regularly” depressing and ridiculous. (“Depriculous”? Hmm, maybe not.)

Houston also says that infidelity peaks around Valentine’s Day.

Happy VD — cheaters!
