{"id":127,"date":"2007-08-25T09:14:01","date_gmt":"2007-08-25T16:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/steve.isitfridayyet.info\/?p=127"},"modified":"2007-08-25T09:14:01","modified_gmt":"2007-08-25T16:14:01","slug":"georgetown-liquor-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/steve.isitfridayyet.info\/?p=127","title":{"rendered":"Georgetown Liquor Company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>August 25, 2007<\/p>\n<p>The Boyfriend (TB) and I ate dinner at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgetownliquorco.com\/\">Georgetown Liquor Company<\/a><\/strong> (GLC), 5501 Airport Way S, Seattle; the entrance is at 8th Ave S and S Lucile St, behind ArtCore Tattoo.<br \/>\n[thumb:1529:l][thumb:1530:l][thumb:1531:l][thumb:1532:l]<\/p>\n<p>GLC, a \u201cretro-gaming bar,\u201d has a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgetownliquorco.com\/menu.html\/\">100% vegetarian menu<\/a><\/strong>. Some items are natively vegan and most can be made vegan. GLC even offers a <em>variety <\/em>of vegan cheese choices: cream cheese, mozzarella, and monterey jack by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tofutti.com\/\">Tofutti<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fieldroast.com\/products.htm\">Chao cheese<\/a><\/strong> by Field Roast, \u201cthe original maker of vegan grain meats.\u201d <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fieldroast.com\/index.htm\">Field Roast Grain Meat Co.<\/a><\/strong> is also located in Georgetown. <\/p>\n<p>(When discussing vegan cheese options with our bartender\/server, we recommended the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.followyourheart.com\/\">Follow Your Heart<\/a><\/strong> (FYH) brand. I&#8217;ve found four <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.followyourheart.com\/cheese_products.php\">FYH varieties<\/a><\/strong> in a few Seattle stores: monterey jack, mozzarella, cheddar, and nacho cheddar. FYH has the best taste and texture for these types of cheeses, and they melt great.) <\/p>\n<p>We started off with a couple of cocktails. TB had a Fresh Peach Martini (Stoli Peach, triple sec, and organic peach puree) and I had a Pomegranate Martini (Ketel One Citron, triple sec, and Pama liqueur). Both drinks were tasty and strong. <em>Very <\/em>strong.<br \/>\n[thumb:1535:l]<\/p>\n<p>For our main courses, we had sandwiches. TB had a vegan Darth Reuben: roasted tomato Field Roast, vegan cheese (the non-vegan version has Emanthaler swiss), sauerkraut, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/m-w.com\/dictionary\/remoulade\">remoulade<\/a><\/strong> on toasted marbled rye bread. I had the Picard: lentil sage Field Roast, roasted red pepper, vegan mozzarella, Tofutti cream cheese, and roasted garlic spread on toasted ciabatta bread, served with vegan <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/m-w.com\/dictionary\/au%20jus\">au jus<\/a><\/strong>. Both sandwiches were delicious and filling.<br \/>\n[thumb:1536:l]<\/p>\n<p>PS: GLC&#8217;s gaming menu includes Defender, Moon Patrol, Ms. Pac Man, and Atari 5200, among others.
