Note to my friend Matt: I <em>finally <\/em>made it to Haight\/Ashbury! These pics are for you &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[thumb:899:c:l=p]<\/p>\n<p>My route: Starting, as usual, in <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"San Francisco\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/San_Francisco\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>San Francisco<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Financial District, San Francisco\" href=\"http:\/\/gosanfrancisco.about.com\/od\/touristattractions\/a\/Financial.htm\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Financial Center<\/strong><\/a>, I walked from Post to Laguna, turned onto Haight, and followed that to Ashbury.<\/p>\n<p>After picking up <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Bay Area Food\" href=\"http:\/\/steve.isitfridayyet.info\/?page_id=27\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>dinner<\/strong><\/a> (a vegan sandwich to go) from Love N Haight &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[thumb:903:c:l=p]<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;  I walked down Haight back to Laguna, turned onto Fulton, took that to Franklin, then over to Van Ness, then McAllister to Market, then to the Powell Street BART station, and took the train back to <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Berkeley, CA\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berkeley%2C_California\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Berkeley<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[thumb:897:c:l=p]<\/p>\n<p>[cpg_album:139,3]<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 9 miles total, including Berkeley mileage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Friday, Sept. 15, 2006) Destination: The intersection of Haight and Ashbury, once the hub of 1960&#8217;s hippiedom, now home to hipster hangouts and chi-chi shopping.
